About these terms

BibleSpeak is provided by HAMPTON.IO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15728356), registered office 139 Old Station Road, Solihull, West Midlands, B92 0HE, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). These terms are a contract between you and us. By using BibleSpeak you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

If you downloaded BibleSpeak from Google Play, Google Play's own terms also apply to your download and any purchase. If the two conflict on something about the purchase itself, Google Play's terms apply to that.

Who can use BibleSpeak

You must be 18 or older to use BibleSpeak. The app asks you to confirm this before first use. BibleSpeak is for your own personal, non-commercial use.

The service

BibleSpeak is an app that lets you have conversations with an AI that answers in the voice of Scripture. It lets you:

• send text messages and receive AI-generated replies;
• speak a message and review the transcript before sending it (Premium);
• hear replies read aloud in AI-generated voices (Premium);
• switch on an optional memory feature that personalises replies (off by default, available on every plan);
• keep several conversations, stored on your device;
• report replies that are offensive, harmful or misquote Scripture.

There are no accounts. BibleSpeak needs an internet connection to create replies. Your conversations are stored on your device, so if you delete the app's data, uninstall it or lose your phone, they may be lost and we can't restore them.

AI-generated content: please read

• All replies and spoken audio are AI-generated. The voices are synthetic, not recordings of real people.
• Replies can be wrong. They may misquote or misattribute Scripture, cite the wrong passage, state things with more confidence than is justified, or leave out important context. Word-for-word quotations are meant to come only from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) or the World English Bible (WEB), but the AI may still get them wrong. Check anything important against a Bible.
• It is not advice. BibleSpeak does not give pastoral, spiritual direction, medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it is not a crisis service. Don't use it to make decisions about your health, safety, money or legal affairs. Talk to a qualified person, such as a doctor, counsellor, lawyer or church leader you trust.
• In an emergency, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line. The app shows crisis resources if a message suggests you may be at risk, but automated checks can miss things. See our Safety page.
• It doesn't speak for any church. Christians hold a range of views on many questions. Replies don't represent the teaching of any church or denomination, or our own views.
• Use replies responsibly. If you share a reply, don't present it as written by a person, as the words of Scripture itself, or as professional advice.

If you see a reply that is harmful, offensive or misquotes Scripture, please report it in the app so we can review it.

Plans, the free trial and subscriptions

Free

The free plan includes 10 messages a day with text chat. The daily allowance resets at midnight UTC. Messages that fail to get a reply don't count towards it.

Free trial

New installs get 24 hours of Premium free, starting when you first use the app. No payment details are needed, and the trial ends automatically. It is offered once; please don't reinstall the app or reset its data to get another. We may limit trials to prevent abuse.

Premium

Premium gives you unlimited messages, voice input and spoken replies, subject to the fair-use limits in Acceptable use. If you subscribed to one of our earlier plans (Faithful, Disciple or Scholar), it continues to give you Premium until it ends or you cancel it.

Subscriptions through Google Play

• Subscriptions are sold and billed through Google Play. The price, billing period and any introductory offer are shown in the app and by Google Play before you confirm.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price then shown, until you cancel.
• If a subscription offer includes a free trial from Google Play, you will be charged when that trial ends unless you cancel before then.
• You can cancel at any time in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, or from the Manage option in the app's settings. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for. Uninstalling the app or deleting its data does not cancel a subscription. Manage your subscription on Google Play.
• If we change the price, Google Play will tell you in advance, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
• Payments, refunds and any right of withdrawal are handled by Google Play under its terms and refund policy. If you need help, contact us. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Acceptable use

When you use BibleSpeak, you agree not to:

• break the law, or use the app to plan, promote or carry out harm to yourself or others;
• harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or try to make the AI produce hateful, sexual or violent content;
• submit other people's personal information without the right to do so;
• access our server other than through the app, including by scripts, bots or scraping, or try to get around usage limits, the free-message allowance, the trial or subscription checks;
• probe, overload or disrupt our systems, or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it;
• use the app to build a competing product or to train AI models;
• present AI-generated replies as Scripture, as written by a person, or as advice from us.

We apply rate limits to keep the service fair and affordable, and heavy automated use may be limited even on Premium. We may suspend access from an app installation that breaks these rules.

Your content and ours

You keep any rights you have in the messages you send. You allow us, and our service providers, to process them only to run BibleSpeak, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for what you send.

As between you and us, you may use the replies you receive for your own personal purposes, in line with these terms. Other people may receive similar replies. Quotations from the Berean Standard Bible and the World English Bible are in the public domain.

The BibleSpeak app, name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and Google Play's terms.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, including the optional memory feature, voice input and reports.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep BibleSpeak available, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features, change AI providers or models, or require you to update the app to keep using it. If we make a change that significantly reduces what paid subscribers get, we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel.

If we stop providing BibleSpeak, we will give reasonable notice where we can, and stop renewing subscriptions.

Our responsibility to you

• Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
• If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for loss that isn't foreseeable.
• If digital content we provide damages a device or digital content that belongs to you because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
• BibleSpeak is for personal use. We are not liable for business losses, such as lost profit, revenue or business opportunity.
• Because replies are AI-generated and are not advice (see AI-generated content), we are not responsible for decisions you make or actions you take based on them, to the extent the law allows.
• Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for BibleSpeak in the 12 months before the claim and £50.

Ending these terms

You can stop using BibleSpeak at any time by uninstalling it; remember to cancel any subscription in Google Play. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop providing the service. The sections on AI-generated content, liability and governing law continue to apply after these terms end.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you live in the European Union, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you can bring proceedings in your local courts.

If you have a problem, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved quickly.

General

We may update these terms, for example when we change the service or the law changes. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the app about changes that significantly affect you before they take effect. If you don't accept the changes, you can stop using BibleSpeak and cancel your subscription.

If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. Only you and we have rights under these terms. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, and we will tell you if that affects you.
